Application Software:

The special types of software which are designed to perform specific tasks for users are called application software. The application software is created specially according to the user’s need. It helps users to perform specific tasks like preparing documents, producing bills, editing images and videos, keeping accounts, preparing SLC results, etc. Application software does its tasks with the help of operating system. Application software are available in packages.

Application software is either created by software companies or by an individual. Generally the application software are available in packages. Some commonly used application software package are as follows:

Word Processing Package
Word Processing Package are used for preparing text documents. Microsoft Word, Aldus PageMaker, word Perfect, etc. are some popular word processing software.

Spreadsheet Package:

Spreadsheet Package/software is used for keeping accounts and does calculations. MS-Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, etc. are some spreadsheet software.

Database Package

The database package/software is used for managing database. Ms-Access, dBase, FoxPro, Oracle, etc. are database management software.

Graphic Package

The graphic software is used for graphic designing. Paintbrush, CorelDraw, Photoshop, etc. are graphic software.

Multimedia Package:

It is used for preparing multimedia contents. e.g. Windows Media Player, Ms-PowerPoint, 3D Max, Maya, Flash, etc.
