Q) In a survey of a community 45% of the people like Dashain festival, 65% like Tihar festival and 25% like both festivals.

i) Show it in a venn-diagram.

ii) What percent of them don’t like both?

Here,

          n(U) = 100%

          n(D) = 45%

          n(T) = 65%

          n(DnT) = 25%

          n(DUT)' = ?

        

Now,

i) 

ii)

          n(U) = n(D) + n(T) – n(DnT) + n(DUT)'

          100% = 45% + 65% - 25% + n(DUT)'

          100% - 110% - 25% + n(DUT)'

          100% = 85% + n(DUT)'

          100% - 85% = n(DUT)'

          15% = n(DUT)'

Therefore, 15% of people did not like both the festival.
