Professions Related to Public Service
Public service sector is diversified and broad.The government consists of various ministries and department to regulate, control and provide services to the ordinary citizens of its country. Public services have a wide scope, for example, education, health, security, justice, and so on. To provide public service (civil service), different levels of people are needed in governmental, social, and institutional sectors. Some of the professions related to public services are;
a) Section Officer (Sakha Adhikrit)
There are different departments and branches in social services. Every department has its own officer. To provide services to people, section officers are also appointed. Providing services in their own branch or sector is the main responsibility of section officer.
A section officer should pass bachelor's degree in the related field to hold this post and has to pass the exam conducted by public service commission or the concerned authority.
b) Chief-Officer (Karyalaye Pramukh)
c) Manager (Byabasthapak or Prabandhak)
A manager is appointed in government organizations and agencies. Their responsibility is to make the institutions or offices regular, systematic and to maintain the chain of command in the respective place or institutions. They should plan and make strategies for the welfare of institutions or organizations. The managing director should also deal with the services, facilities and opportunities in his/her office like that of the senior officer. He/she should be able to formulate plan, policy and the strategies appropriately.
# Public/Civil Service:
Public service is a service which is provided by government to people living within its jurisdiction, either directly or by financing provision of services.
Eg; fire brigade, police, air force, paramedics, etc.
In order to get Public service job in Nepal on must pass the examination organized by Public Service Commission of the Nepal Government.

Duties and Responsibilities of office chief:
The person who has right to run an office through his/her vision, direction and supervision is called office chief. The following are the function of office chief;i. Setting objectives of the organization.
ii. Preparing long term and short term plans and policies of the organization.
iii. Dividing the work among the workers in the organization.
iv. Directing and coordinating the activities of the different staffs and departments.
v. Maintaining sound accounting system in the organization.
vi. Evaluating the performance of the staff and department.
Duties and Responsibilities of Section Officer:
i) To work as per the instruction of office chief.ii) To complete all the works related to his department in a transparency way.
iii) To direct and coordinate the activities of the different staffs relating to his department.
